We believe that it is always unacceptable for anyone to experience abuse of any kind and we recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of all our student police officers. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of individuals and groups and expect all our employees, student police officers and MPS partners to share this commitment.
We recognise that:
• The welfare of the student police officers is paramount.
• All student police officers, irrespective of, but not limited to; age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.
• Working in partnership with student police officers and with other agencies is essential in promoting a safe learning environment.
The purpose of our safeguarding policy is to:
• Provide protection for student police officers.
• Provide employees, and those representing us, with guidance on the procedures they should adopt in the event that they have been informed or suspect that a student police officer may be experiencing, or be at risk of harm.
Learner Welfare and Safeguarding Policy
We will seek to safeguard all student police officers by:
• Valuing them, listening to them, and respecting them.
• Adopting safeguarding guidelines through procedures and a code of conduct for employees and representatives.
• Recruiting employees safely.
• Ensuring student police officers are working and learning in a safe environment.
• Sharing information about concerns with agencies who need it.
• Ensuring data security is compliant with Babcock policy and legislative regulations.

As part of your programme, you will be asked to use the internet for research and assignment purposes. We would also like to communicate and support you via e-mail and text between visits. For this reason and as part of our duty of care to all learners / students, it is very important to us that we provide you with the knowledge and tools to help keep you safe on-line and to support you if things go wrong.
